Biography
I was born in Houston, Texas in the fall of 1986 to the two best people I know. I have one younger brother. As a kid I was active in scouting and my love for the outdoors has persisted throughout my life. In high school I was involved in student council, band, theater, and football. My time in scouting taught me I have a natural propensity for teaching; it also gave me the strength and confidence to pursue my goals, as well as the wisdom to attain them. I graduated from Texas State University in December 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in English minoring in Journalism. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family. I also enjoy kayaking, hiking, riding motorcycles, and attempting to play guitar.

Accomplishments

In grade school I was awarded top marks in UIL Oral Reading and a short poem I wrote as a young man was published in Reader’s Digest. In the Boy Scouts I earned the highest award they offer, the Eagle. I was an Area Director at Bovay Scout camp, which taught me the importance of effective time management and planning for groups as small as 10 and as large as 30. I was an Education Major for many years, which trained me in effective classroom management and developing curriculum. I was an officer in the Lee College chapter of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI). In ACEI, we developed a pilot program, teaming with Lakeshore Learning, in which we would develop and present lesson plans to teachers at educational conferences around Texas.
